Chainsaw-wielding L.A. man surrenders after hours-long standoff

A chainsaw-wielding man surrendered after an hours-long standoff with Los Angeles police Tuesday afternoon in Mission Hills, in accordance with authorities.

The Los Angeles Police Division responded at about 3:20 p.m. to San Fernando Mission and Sepulveda boulevards after a report of an assault with a lethal weapon, in accordance with Officer Tony Im.

The suspect was described as a Latino man in his 40s sporting a brown hat, blue pants and a blue jacket, Im stated.

The person was wielding a chainsaw as a weapon, in accordance with authorities. The SWAT crew was on the scene.

Officers fired “much less deadly” bean baggage on the suspect, police stated. He surrendered round 6:10 p.m.

KTLA-5 captured footage of the standoff exterior a strip mall parking zone, through which the person was seen standing within the mattress of a truck with a knife in a single hand and a lighter within the different.

Authorities approached the truck with a SWAT automobile, blocking his exit. Officers additionally evacuated folks from close by companies through the standoff.
