Recreation, set, match, bees.

Tennis followers didn’t love-love the bee-zarre flip at Indian Wells on Thursday when a swarm of bees disrupted a quarterfinal match of the BNP Paribas Open.

Umpire Mohamed Lahyani mentioned play could be halted as a result of “bee invasion” at Stadium 1, after which video confirmed him being stung. He then fled for the locker room, in keeping with Tennis Majors, as did Spanish professional tennis participant Carlos Alcaraz and his German opponent, Alexander Zverev.

“First time for the whole lot,” the announcer may very well be heard saying.

The bees had been thick on the courtroom as Alcaraz dashed about, making an attempt to not get stung, and they collected on the spider cam, a digicam suspended by cables.

The bugs claimed victory, a minimum of quickly.

Alcaraz, the BNP Paribas Open defending champion, was enjoying in opposition to Zverev, who defeated Alcaraz of their final match on the Australian Open.

Alcaraz gained 6-3 in opposition to Fabian Marozsan Tuesday to advance to the quarterfinals of the BNP Paribas Open.
