A 15-year-old Apple Valley youth wielding a backyard instrument was shot and killed Saturday by a San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy, in response to a press release from the division.
The assertion stated the boy, Ryan Gainer, “chased the deputy in an try to assault him with the bladed finish” of a 5-foot lengthy backyard instrument.
The officer had confronted Gainer after being summoned by a 911 name on Saturday afternoon to a home within the 13400 block of Iroquois Street. The teenager allegedly was assaulting members of the family.
