A seek for a helicopter with 5 Marines aboard was underway Wednesday after the plane didn’t arrive at a California Air Drive base, the U.S. Marine Corps mentioned.
The Marines have been assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, Marine Plane Group 16, in keeping with an announcement from the third Marine Plane Wing. The crew was aboard a CH-53E Tremendous Stallion helicopter, which was reported overdue after leaving Creech Air Drive Base in Indian Springs, Nev., on Tuesday. The helicopter was en path to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego.
“The third Marine Plane Wing is coordinating search and rescue efforts with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Division and the Civil Air Patrol,” in keeping with an announcement.
