Two California residents are suing the French luxurious design firm Hermès over claims that it sells its Birkin purses solely to prospects who’ve bought different Hermès gadgets previously, together with the designer’s dear sneakers, scarves and belts.
The category-action lawsuit filed Tuesday in San Francisco alleges that prospects will need to have a professional “buy profile” with Hermès to achieve entry to Birkin baggage. This violates antitrust regulation, the lawsuit claims, by tying the acquisition of a Birkin to the acquisition of different luxurious gadgets.
Many see the purses, named for the British-born actor and singer Jane Birkin, as a standing image and icon of vogue. The baggage promote for hundreds of {dollars}, starting from the worth of a small bike to the worth of a small cabin.
