A chilly storm from the Nice Basin made its solution to Southern California early Thursday, bringing sturdy Santa Ana winds which have already exceeded 70 and 80 mph in some areas.

Winds in two spots within the San Gabriel Mountains and foothills hit 80 mph early Thursday: Magic Mountain Truck Path and close to the top of Haven Avenue north of Rancho Cucamonga, with the latter’s gusts reaching 82 mph, in keeping with Alex Tardy, a Nationwide Climate Service meteorologist in San Diego.

North of the 118 Freeway within the northern San Fernando Valley, wind speeds hit 74 mph in Browns Canyon early Thursday, and east of the Cajon Move close to the Cloudland Truck Path they hit 77 mph, in keeping with the Nationwide Climate Service.

Tardy stated winds had been anticipated to peak about 11 a.m. Thursday.
