It’s a story well-known inside conservatism. In his autobiography Witness, Whittaker Chambers recounted that watching his toddler daughter’s ear whereas feeding her one morning provoked a disaster, ending his atheism. The ear, Chambers mirrored, evidenced a design {that a} materialist worldview equivalent to communism, the worldview that was his personal, couldn’t clarify. The looks of design sparked his consideration of a designer: God. Chambers, on the time a spy for the Soviet Union and later a contributor to Nationwide Assessment, would finally develop into a Christian.
